Floss Your Teeth

Flossing is a very important part of oral hygiene.  It is part of oral preventative care.  Flossing will remove plaque and food particles between your teeth that cannot be reached by your toothbrush.  Gums also become healthier with flossing.

     -  Waxed - Waxed floss is the most popular type of floss that there is right now.  It is easier to slide between teeth than other types of floss which causes less pain and frustration.

     -  Unwaxed - This type of floss actually removes more plaque. Unwaxed floss grabs and holds onto more plaque than waxed floss.

     - Teflon - Teflon floss is the newest form of floss.  If you have sensitive teeth or gums, this will probably be your best choice.  This is the easiest sliding floss.  It does not get caught on edges because it is made with the same non-stick product that is on pots and pans.

     - Dental Tape - Just because it does not contain the name "floss" does not mean it does something different.  The difference between dental tape and floss is that dental tape is significantly wider and flatter.  It still removes plaque and food particles just the same.  It just has more surface area than floss.
